The '''Tovey Professorship of Music''' was a named chair at the University of Edinburgh. It was established by an ordinance (no. 550) approved by the University Court in 1965 and by the Privy Council the following year.<ref>[http://bit.ly/2RsuQ78 "List of ordinances founding Established Chairs"] (University of Edinburgh). Retrieved 1 January 2019.</ref> The first person appointed to the chair was [[Michael Tilmouth]], in 1971.
