== Life ==
Born in [[Limburg an der Lahn]], Kleiter is the daughter of the former hockey coach and niece of the tenor [[Christoph Prégardien]]. Already in early years she became a member of the Limburg Cathedral Choir. After she passed the Abitur examination at the , she studied at the music academies in Hamburg with William Workman and in Cologne with [[Klesie Kelly]].

Her first engagement as a concert singer by the Russian conductor [[Semyon Bychkov (conductor)|Semjon Bytschkov]] dates back to her training period. In this context she was the first maid in Strauss' ''[[Daphne (opera)|Daphne]]'' on several concert tours. In June 2004 Kleiter appeared as Pamina in ''[[the Magic Flute]]'' at the [[Opéra Bastille]]. A year later she played the same role again in Paris, this time under the baton of [[Marc Minkowski]], who also engaged her for it in Madrid. She is also known as ''Zauberflöten''-Papagena, which she sang in the joint production of [[Claudio Abbado]] and Daniele Abbado in Ferrara, Reggio Emilia, Modena and Baden-Baden in 2005. In the same year she experienced the audience of Florence as Xenia in ''[[Boris Godunov (opera)|Boris Godunov]]'' at the [[Teatro Comunale, Florence|Theatro Communale]], under the musical direction of Semjon Bytschkov.

Conductor [[Nikolaus Harnoncourt]] engaged her to the [[Zurich Opera House]]. There she sang roles like Serpetta in Mozart's ''[[La finta giardiniera]]'', Pamina in the premiere production of ''the Magic Flute'' and Sophie in ''[[Der Rosenkavalier]]'' under [[Franz Welser-Möst]] as well at the Zurich Opera Festival in June. In 2006 she sang the role of Celia in the joint production of [[La Fenice]] in Venice and the [[Salzburg Festival]] of Mozart's opera ''[[Lucio Silla]]''. In the same year she was also Susanna in Mozart's ''[[Le nozze di Figaro]]'' in Verona and Pamina in ''the Magic Flute'' in Edinburgh, conducted by Claudio Abbado. At the Salzburg Festival 2006 she was also heard in a concert performance of ''[[La Betulia liberata]]'' at the [[Felsenreitschule]] and in a concert of the under [[Riccardo Muti]].

In June 2011 she sang the role of Susanna in Mozart's ''[[The Marriage of Figaro]]'' at the [[Paris Opera]]. In the same month she was also engaged at the [[Deutsche Oper Berlin]]. In July she was part of the program of the [[Styriarte]]. In 2012 she was again seen in the role of Pamina in the new production of Mozart's ''Magic Flute'' at the Salzburg Festival. Previously she had already played the role of Zdenka in Richard Strauss' ''[[Arabella]]'' at the [[Opéra Bastille]].
