Dallara SF19

Fixer88: ←Created page with 'The Dallara SF19 is an open-wheel single-seater sports car that will start competing from 2019 in the Super Formula...'

The Dallara SF19 is an open-wheel single-seater sports car that will start competing from 2019 in the Super Formula Japanese championship. It will replace the Dallara SF14.

History
The single-seater was introduced in October 2017, on the Suzuka Circuit, and is the only one admitted to the Super Formula championship, the most important open-wheel racing car championship in Japan, starting from the 2019 season.

The first shakedown of the car took place in June 2018, at the Autodromo Riccardo Paletti in Varano de' Melegari, with the Japanese driver Tomoki Nojiri at its head. The driver completed 71 laps, also achieving the track record, in 57 seconds, two seconds faster than the previous limit set by a LMP1 car. The first two cars produced were then shipped to Japan, for tests on Fuji Speedway. Nojiri, tests in at home, completed 129 laps, in two days, even if only on the second day he was able to fit dry tires after the rain of the first day. The time obtained, 1'26"173, is two seconds lower than the pole position of 2017, obtained from the SF14. During the tests carried out in August, Nojiri also tried a new display model, placed on the helmet visor.

Technical specifications
The car, compared to the SF14, is based on greater exploitation of the downforce generated by the bottom, shifting the balance from the wings to the ground effect, in order to increase the chances of overtaking. The appearance is more similar to that of the F1, with a fin on the hood, and of the more pronounced lateral bellies. The Halo is not foreseen in the original project, but Dallara has studied the possibility of its presence.

The engine derives from the one used in the Super GT, and is a 2.000 cc, with fuel limiter and push to pass system.

List of Mankading incidents in cricket

Spike 'em: add content previously removed from Run out

In the sport of cricket, Mankading (named after Indian international Vinoo Mankad) is the informal name given to an attempt to run out the non-striking batsman whilst they are backing-up. The attempts are perfectly legal within the Laws of Cricket, but such attempts are often seen to be against the spirit of the game.

Rabbi Yossi Feldman ran the Yeshiva Centre in Sydney together with his father, Pinchus. He has been the subject of numerous high profile controversies in the Jewish community.

Royal Commission
Feldman was called as a witness during the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.

While on the stand he said that he did not know that it was illegal for an adult to touch the genitals of a child. At the time he was the dean of the Yeshivah Gedola Rabbinical College.

He also claimed that rabbis should determine themselves whether to pass claims of abuse to the police or to deal with it in house.

In his testimony Felman also had to answer about a letter he wrote the Sydney Beth Din objecting to their stance encouraging victims of abuse to come forward to police. Feldman at the time was that this would have implications for his friend, David Cyprys. Cyprys was later jailed on numerous charges of sexually abusing boys in Melbourne.

He also assisted another abuser to escape Australia not long after he discovered that the accusation was taken to the police.

Following the backlash from his appearance at the Royal Commission, Feldman attacked the media saying that their reporting "encourages even people who may not be real victims or may want to be considered heroes".

An editorial in the Australian Jewish News called the testimony given in the Royal Commission to be "our darkest week" as a community and singled out Feldman and his father for particular condemnation. The editorial claimed that it had not seen an improvement in culture from the period when the abuse occurred.

Antonio Puccinelli (19 March 1822, Castelfranco di Sotto - 22 July 1897, Florence) was an Italian painter; one of the group known as the "Macchiaioli".

Biography
He was the son of a tailor and was planning to follow his father in that trade, but a group of local citizens noticed his talent for art. Thanks to a scholarship, he was able to attend the Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze, where he studied with Giuseppe Bezzuoli. In 1846, he won the Grand Prize there for his painting The Young Moses Tramples the Crown of Pharaoh (Now at the ).

During the Revolutions of 1848, he enlisted in the Tuscan Expeditionary Corps and fought in the First Italian War of Independence.

He was among the first artists to become habitués of the Caffè Michelangiolo, which was a favorite meeting place of the Macchiaioli (a group that rejected the prevailing Academicism), until 1870. His first painting in the new style came in 1852, with La passeggiata del Muro Torto (Walking Tour at the Muro Torto).

Shortly after, he opened a studio in Florence and became a Professor at the Accademia. In 1859, he was awarded a prize at the Concorso Ricasoli for his portrait of Vincenzo Gioberti. He also participated in the of 1861. In 1862, he married Francesca Guasconi, with whom he had been having a relationship for ten years. This was probably a last wish, as she died shortly thereafter and he married Adelaide Badioli, a cousin of one of his students.

In the years after 1872, for unknown reasons, his output gradually decreased. In 1897, he retired from the Accademia in Bologna and died not long after.

Astrometric solving

QueerEcofeminist: added Category:Astronomical imaging using HotCat

Liquid error: wrong number of arguments (1 for 2)

Astrometric solving or Plate solving is a technique used in astronomy and applied on astronomical images. Solving an image it finding match between the imaged stars and a star catalogue and the solution is a math model describing the corresponding astronomical position of each image pixel. The position of reference catalogue stars has to be know to a high accuracy so an astrometric reference catalogue is used such as the Gaia catalogue.

With the astrometric or plate solution, 1) the astronomical position of any object in the image can be calculated or 2) the pointing position of the telescope mount or satellite used to take the image.

The image solution contains a reference point often the image centre, image scale, image orientation and in some cases an image distortion model.

In the past plate solving was done manually by accurately measuring photographic glass plates taken with an astrograph (astrographic camera)

Currently astrometric solving is exclusively done by software programs. The program extracts the star positions from the image, groups them in three star triangles or four star quads and calculates the distances and/or angles between stars and compares them with catalogue stars to find a match.

Applications
Astrometry
Professional setups are usinge astrometric solving to measure accurately the position of minor planets of comets to calculate orbital parameters.

Telescope Mount pointing
Amateurs astronomers are using astrometric solving for pointing their telescope mount accurately by syncing them to the center of an image taken.

Blind solving
Some programs don’t need an initial guess and can do a so called blind solving. They will solve any image having sufficient imaged stars as reference.
