The '''Joseph L. Doob Prize''', also called the '''Doob Prize''', is one of twenty-two prizes given out by the [[American Mathematical Society]] (AMS).<ref></ref>. It recognizes an outstanding research book that makes a seminal contribution to the research literature, reflects the highest standards of exposition, and promises to have a deep and long-term impact in its area. The prize was created in 2005 in memory of the former AMS president [[Joseph L. Doob]]. It is awarded every three years at the [[Joint Mathematics Meetings]] and carries a cash reward of $5,000.
