FICE International

FICE International(the International Federation of Educative Communities)is an international network of individuals and organizations, working in the fields of [[social work]], [[pedagogy]], [[psychology]], [[education]], [[child and youth care]], based in 37 countries around the world. FICE was created in 1948 under the auspices of [[UNESCO]], the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.
At first, FICE International was called Fédération Internationale des Communautés d’Enfants, although this name was changed in 1982, when the organization changed its goals.

==1. Aims and objectives of FICE International==
FICE aims to create a worldwide network in support of professionals and practitioners working with and for children in vulnerable situations. Furthermore, FICE International aims at promoting high quality child and youth care.
The specific objectives of FICE include:
-Finding individual solutions that match the needs of each child or young person in accordance with the [[Convention on the rights of the child]];
-Supporting young people leaving care in their transition to independent living;
-Increasing the capacities of professionals working with children and young people across various settings;
-Encouraging the ongoing development of services for children and young people through research and theoretical innovation;
-Supporting families as the basic social structure for upbringing children;
-Advocating for the highest quality of care and education for children and young people who are unable to live with their families.
