== Leben ==
Born in [[Opole]] (Poland), Kaliga studied in Rostock and at the [[Hochschule für Musik "Hanns Eisler"]] in Berlin, first bassoon, then piano with Rudolf Dunckel<ref>[http://bit.ly/2GDOQME Rudolf Dunckel] on Discogs</ref> and [[Dieter Zechlin]]. He then studied [[conducting]] with Adolf Fritz Guhl<ref>[http://bit.ly/2UXJ3LZ Adolf Fritz Guhl]</ref> and Willi Niepolt. From 1955 to 1997 he was a lecturer for [[répétiteur|correpetition]], song studies and vocal [[chamber music]] at the HfM "Hanns Eisler". In 1985 he was appointed professor. Kaliga worked for many singers as a piano accompanist.

Among other things he was a piano accompanist at the [[Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival]] in [[master class]]es of [[Siegfried Lorenz (baritone)|Siegfried Lorenz]], [[Christa Ludwig]], , and also gave concerts with , [[Wanda Wilkomirska]], , [[Ruggiero Ricci]], [[Oleg Kagan]], , , [[Ute Trekel-Burckhardt]], , [[Gisela May]], Wolfgang Hellmich, and [[Peter Schreier]].

Kaliga also participated as a piano accompanist in various national and international singing competitions, such as the [[Robert Schumann Prize of the City of Zwickau]].
