National Award Winner, Brigadier Ashok Abbey, AVSM is one of India's most experienced and respected mountaineers, who has been actively climbing for over four decades.

A Paratrooper, Skier and a Mountaineer, he has  been climbing regularly, for the past '''42 years''' (1979–2021). He has  taken part in several mountaineering related training activities and expeditions and has '''climbed''', '''led''' and '''participated''' in  '''Indian''' and '''International Expeditions,''' to '''5000''', '''6000, 7000'''  and '''8000 Meter''' mountains. He has  instructed with distinction at '''National Mountaineering Institutes''' and has planned and executed many '''Mountain Rescue Missions''' in the Karakoram, the Himalaya and adjoining mountain ranges.
