It has a reputation for digital health innovation. At the [[International Hospital Federation]] Awards in October 2018 It won:
*Gold Excellence Award for Quality and Safety in Patient-Centred Care for for its [[gestational diabetes]] app and internet-based interactive clinician portal,
*Dr Kwang Tae Kim Grand Award for its transformation of Australia's first digital health service

The Metro South Health Digital Hospital Project won the Outstanding ICT Achievement Award at the 6th Asia Pacific [[HIMSS]]-[[Elsevier]] Digital Healthcare Award 2018. Princess Alexandra Hospital is the exemplar site for the implementation of the shared integrated [[electronic medical record]] solution for Queensland.<ref>Liquid error: wrong number of arguments (1 for 2)</ref>

It has established a new patient administration system, rolled out the [[Cerner]] integrated electronic medical record all its hospitals and replaced the Auslab state-wide pathology system. Princess Alexandra Hospital, where Dr Stephen Ayre, who was formerly a [[general practitioner]] was then the executive director, was the first to be fully digitised. Observations and vital signs from patient monitoring devices are automatically uploaded to patient records. All records are visible to all clinicians in the hospitals and the system is being rolled out into the community so that general practitioners can see what has happened in the hospital. <ref>Liquid error: wrong number of arguments (1 for 2)</ref>
