Incandescence is the annual cultural fest of National Institute of Technology Silchar. Usually held in the last week of February, it is one of it's kind in the entire North-East. Started in 2009 and over the years, it has managed to carve a niche for itself among its peer aesthetic and ethnic events with the participation of more than 35,000 people a year.

== History ==
Incandescence saw it's beginning back in 2009 and since then there was no looking back. With coming years, this artistic extravaganza flourished and now proudly stands as one of the largest cultural festivals of the Northeast India. It's dynamism is a treat to the eye's of the beholder. Over the years, Incandescence has hosted a lot of world famous artists like Gajendra Verma, Balaji Vishwanathan, Monali Thakur, Swaraaj Band, Zephyr Tone and many others. It has organised a lot many exciting competitions like Director's Cut, Cosplay, Ad film making, Nataraj- the dance competition module and Razzmatazz . Incandescence 2018 witnessed a dazzling Glitterati night, peaceful Nirvana, rocking Thundermarch and ended with soulful music of Gajendra Verma and Herfunmola. This year (2019) expects an even flamboyant lineup to enthral all!

Glliterati, the fashion module of Incandescence is a colourful evening of style and charisma. Enthusiastic fashion icons get ready to glitter the ramp with their sizzling moves and exotic cultural ethnicity. Incandescence 2019will dazzle the crowd with the exuberant grandeur of Glitterati flaunting famous personalities like PoranGogoi, Ashish Agarwal, Birina Chakravarty, Prashant Ghosh up on that stage.Such personalities grace the cultural extravaganza with a surreal display of immortal charm and everlasting beauty.

==== THUNDERMARCH: ====
Raise your horns up and get ready to headbang to the face-melting riffs, heavy blast beats and the death growls as the best of metal bands from all over the nation battle it out to find who’s the baddest and meanest amongst all.

Groundbreaking performances like Guthrie Govan, Chronic Xorn, Polar Lights, Ioish, Parikrama, Underside, Undying.inc, Third Sovereign, Junkyard Groove and many others in the recent years have set the stage on fire.

‘Carpe Diem’ night marks the culmination of four days of hustle and bustle of Incandescence, with even more hustle and bustle, enough to wreak havoc in your neurons and strike that chord of chaos to make you go crazy and give you some unforgettable memories. Witness an entire crowd screaming their lungs out, singing in unison and cheering together for their favourite artists and bands. Feel the bass pounding on your chest and let the music and rhythm touch the secret places of you soul. Big names such as Papon, Prateek Kuhad, The Local Train, Monali Thakur, Spunk, Nikhil D’Souza, Zephyrtone, Gajendra Verma had set the stage ablaze in its previous renditions.

The podium that has already witnessed mighty manifestation of likes of some unparalleled cognitive minds of the country including Sudeep Nagarkar, Bhaavna Arora and Novoneel Chakraborty enthrals all with top-notch intelligentsia involved!

NITSMUN is the much-anticipated euphoria !If you are looking forward to get an all-inclusive experience, the MUN committee room is the right place for you. Get ready to role-play delegates of the United Nations. It’s a battle wherein the intellectual minds formulate policies on the given agenda and convince others to accept their proposal by smartly playing their chance. The simulate UN committee is for sure a fun work environment for 3-days with each day bringing great experiences and a lot of learning about the world. When the sessions are finally over there are the Socials for all to relax.

One of the most famous dance event of Incandescence , NATARAJ is a massive platform to put those into limelight who dance not just to the beats, but also to the hearts. Having witnessed phenomenal artists like Dance India Dance fame Pankaj Thapa, Dance + winner Bir Radha Sherpa this event does have a lot to offer.

With sub events like PUMP IT UP for solo showcase of talent and GROUND ZERO for dance battles that gives everyone a chance to show their passion for dance and fire up the stage, this year too Natraaj is all set to blow your minds.

==== RAZZMATAZZ: ====
Memories of childhood are the dreams that stayed with us after we wake up so we here at NITSians hold. RAZZMATAZZ- a module especially for school students of Barak Valley. Comprising of two days of overflowing exuberance, stunning display of skills and a plethora of events, Razzmatazz tests the blooming talents of the students and aims at bringing out the best in them.

==== KAVI SAMMELAN: ====
Poetry is the most powerful, subtle yet beautiful depiction of emotions. And a good poet is someone who manages to dig out those emotions from a human soul which were buried deep within, untouched, sensitive.

“KAVI SAMMELAN” at Incandescence from the past 4 years has been doing exactly the same. From quirky adolescence tales to lovelorn fables, this event has seen it all.

Legends like Kumar Vishwas, Suresh Albela and Suman Jain have graced the stage in recent years.

You get two chances in life. Either you eat to live or you can live to eat. If you choose the later option, the worry no more. The NITS Family proudly presents before you the food module- "A Carnival of Bites". It's a two day stretched event, with the themes Indian and Continental dishes dedicated to each day. From a buffet serving of delectable classy cuisines, all the way to totally innovative and 'NEVER TRIED BEFORE' dishes, we got it all under one roof in this landmark event from the past.

DIET is 'die' with a 't'.

Who in this world doesn’t want to deck one day’s with endless joy and some frolic fun? This event offers some crisp iconic punches and witty swift humour from the stalwart comedians coming from each corner of the country. This event has witnessed widely acclaimed artists like Rivaldo, Angad Singh, Papa CJ amongst many others who helped everyone relieve their time and dive into the craziness of laughter.

This module of Incandescence crowns of the “King of the Virtual World”. It is a carnival for the “Men with Joysticks” that witnesses all sorts of adrenaline rush over the course of the event by giving an opportunity to all gamers to unleash themselves in the game and acquire a new identity in the massive world of video games.

The annual cultural festival of NIT Silchar, Incandescence, is one of the largest such fests of North Eastern India and has attracted numerous sponsorships from various corporations, credits to the enormous footfall! In the past, Incandescence in association with Tequip III has organised V Warz, Deprador among others. Nestle was the title sponsor for Incandescence 2018. In addition to this, Ixigo (which is a travel and hotel booking e-commerce website) was the travel partner, PaisaWapas.com was the official cash back partner, GrabOn was the official coupon partner.
