== History ==
One of the oldest Catholic churches in Bristol and part of the [[Roman Catholic Diocese of Clifton]], it was built in large part to cater for Irish refugees from the Great Famine arriving in Bristol in the late 1840s. It was built in stages between 1850 and 1873 from designs by Charles Hansom. The church was dramatically reordered and extended in 2006-7.<ref></ref>

== Present Day ==
Today, under the leadership of Rev. Richard McKay, Parish Priest, and under the inspiration of the parish's patron saint, [[Nicholas of Tolentino]], the Church seeks to be 'Good News to the Poor'<ref> St Nicholas of Tolentino RC Church|website=tolentino.org.uk|language=en-GB|access-date=2018-11-28}}</ref> through its ministry in the inner city of [[Bristol]].

The Parish Church is home to Borderlands, a charity that works with asylum seekers and refugees.<ref> Borderlands|website=Home Borderlands|language=en|access-date=2018-11-28}}</ref>
