== Career ==
In 2016, Ingles led a survey study which outlined the need for better psychological support for families affected by [[Sudden cardiac death of athletes|sudden cardiac death]] due to a genetic [[Cardiovascular disease|heart disease]]. This study identified a significant risk for [[Post-traumatic stress disorder|post-traumatic stress]] and [[Prolonged grief disorder|prolonged grief]] for family members after the sudden cardiac death of a young relative.<ref name=":0" /> <blockquote>"Their grief is intensified due to losing their loved one so suddenly at a young age...Current research efforts into sudden cardiac death predominantly focus on the clinical needs and genetic management of family members who have lost a young relative. This study highlights the need to equally address the psychological needs of these individuals.”—Associate Professor Jodie Ingles<ref name=":0" /></blockquote>Ingles's work in 2018 highlighted an increase in ICD insertion in a study that looked into whether this was caused by increased awareness of risk factors for [[Sudden cardiac death of athletes|sudden death]], and highlighted an unexpectedly high rate of ICD removals.<ref></ref>
