'''Thirunizhalmala''' ("Garland of the Sacred Shade") is a c. 13th centuy "pattu" genre poem in [[Malayalam-language|Malayalam langauge]].<ref name=":43"></ref><ref></ref> Along with "Ramacharitam", it is one of the earliest extant poems in Malayalam.<ref name=":43" /> It is generally considered as a work associated with the [[Vaishnavism|Vaishnavite]] [[bhakti]] movement in south India.<ref name=":4312"></ref>

"Thirunizhalmala" is composed, most probably by a high caste poet, in local meters and with Dravidian orthography.<ref name=":438"></ref> It is assumed that the work predates the famous "Ramacharitam" by around a century.<ref name=":431" /> The manuscript was discovered from northern Kerala.<ref name=":4312" /> Central topic of the poem is the description of the ritual life of [[Aranmula Parthasarathy Temple|Aranmula Temple]], [[Pathanamthitta district|Pathanamthitta]].<ref></ref> The main rites described are the ancient rituals of the Malayar community.<ref name=":431"></ref><ref name=":4312" /> It also contains the earliest instance in Malayalam of the legend of [[Parasurama]] "founding" Kerala and the sixty-four settlements of Brahmins.<ref name=":438" /> It also mentions the medieval Tamil poet [[Kambar (poet)|Kamban]].<ref name=":438" />
