Two by-laws authorizing public works expenditures were approved by plebiscite: a by-law to spend $300,000 on new buildings on the [[Canadian National Exhibition|Toronto Industrial Exhibition]] grounds, $700,000 to improve the city's fire protection system in the wake of the [[Great Fire of Toronto (1904)|1904 Great Fire of Toronto]].
