He completed his schooling at a secondary school in 1932 and completed an apprenticeship in business, with a particular focus on foreign trade and industrial accounting. Thus qualified he represented various German firms in [[Switzerland]], [[France]], [[England]] and [[Italy]].<ref name=WBlautMunz/>
