== Life ==
Born in [[Graz]], Schukoff completed his vocal studies at the [[Mozarteum Salzburg]] with an diploma in "music-dramatic performance", for which he was awarded the Lilli-Lehmann-Medal in 1996.<ref>[https://ift.tt/2HBcv3j] (retrieved on 24 March 2019)</ref> On [[Gelsenkirchen]] [[Musiktheater im Revier]] he made his debut in the same year in Verdi's ''[[La traviata]]'' as Alfredo. Afterwards he worked some years at the [[Nationaltheater Mannheim]] and at the [[Staatstheater Nürnberg]].

From 2006 he mainly performed in [[Heldentenor]] roles and thus achieved his international breakthrough. However, he is not only successful in [[Richard Wagner|Wagner]] roles, but still appears in Italian ([[Vincenzo Bellini|Bellini]], Verdi) and French (Don José) roles, but also in roles by [[Christoph Willibald Gluck|Gluck]] and [[operetta]] roll (Tassilo or Danilo).

Schukoff is freelance and has had engagements at the [[Opéra National de Paris]], the [[Metropolitan Opera]] in New York and the [[Bayerische Staatsoper]], among others.

In addition to his opera appearances, he also works as a concert singer, for example in the role of Waldemar in Schönberg's ''[[Gurre-Lieder]]'' in [[Wiener Musikverein]] conducted by [[Zubin Mehta]].
