Comic Artist in Residence

Danbura:

A "'''Comic Artist in Residence'''" is a kind of "[[Artist-in-residence]]" program, in which a person active in artistic work is invited to a certain location for a designated period of time, creating artistic work while they stay there. The difference in a “Comic AiR” program is that the invited artist is specifically a comic artist.

=== KITAQ Comic AiR ===
In November 2018, as part of the “'''Kaigai Manga Festa'''” event held in Kitakyushu, Japan, two comic artists were invited to Kitakyushu in order to stay in the city, where they would draw from their experiences to create comic artwork on the '''KITAQ Comic AiR''' (Kitakyushu Comic Artist in Residence) program.<ref>Liquid error: wrong number of arguments (1 for 2)</ref>

Andrew Griffith, an American comic artist famous for his work on the Transformers series and Juan Albarran, a Spanish artist known for his work on Batman & Robin, among others, were invited to Kitakyushu, and for approximately two weeks, from November 9th to 22nd, they worked around the city, including in the NCB Machikado Gallery. The works they created were donated to the host city, Kitakyushu.<ref>Liquid error: wrong number of arguments (1 for 2)</ref>

During the program, events such as workshops and lectures at local schools and technical colleges were held by the cartoonists in order to increase artistic awareness in young people.<ref>Liquid error: wrong number of arguments (1 for 2)</ref>
