Liquid error: wrong number of arguments (1 for 2) -->|notes=}}On March 20, 2019, massive rainfall in the two provinces of Golestan and Mazandaran in Iran brought about heavy flooding. These floods resulted in financial damages to the people living in these areas and also the death of two children.

It is said that in this natural disaster, in two days, Golestan province had 300 millimeter of rainfall which equals its average share of rainfall in one year. Reports show that in less than 5 days, other regions of this province have also witnessed rainfall amounting to 50 to 70 percent of the whole annual rainfall. This amount of rainfall in this region has been unprecedented in all the meteorological data in at least the recent 70 years. The flood in Golestan and Mazandaran provinces is a so-called periodical flood which happens once in a hundred years.
