The festival of Alungdaw Kathapa Pagoda holds back-to-back festivals each year. The pagoda is one of the most famous pagodas in Myanmar. The one of the festival is helds on the full moon of the Tabodwe ([[February]]) and next the following month on the full moon of Tabaung (March 19).
There are many people from the surrounding area attending the festival. Earlier festival in February, only 50-100 pilgrims were seen per day. But , the [[Tabodwe]](March) full moon day is the high season of pilgrimage to it. On that day, the number of pilgrims was estimated at over 7,000-8,000.
