Violin Sonata No. 3 in G minor (Schubert)

Francis Schonken: /* References */ +navbox

The '''Violin Sonata in G minor''' is a music composition by the German composer [[Franz Schubert]] written for violin and piano. It is catalogued as D 408. Schubert wrote the piece in April 1816, and it was published only posthumously in 1836 with two other violin sonatas written around the same time, as No. 3 of "Three Sonatinas Op. 137". While called a ''Sonata'' by Schubert in his manuscript, the labelling with the diminuative "sonatina" by the publishers was due to its relative shortness of length, approximately 13 minutes without repeats.

==Structure==
The piece consists of four movements:

# Allegro giusto  (G minor)
# Andante  (E major)
# ''[[Minuet|Menuetto]]'' & ''Trio''. Allegro vivace  (B major – E major)
# Allegro moderato  (G minor)
