The '''CFA Institute Research Challenge''' is an annual global competition in [[equity research]] hosted by the [[CFA Institute]]. The competition provides university students with hands-on mentoring and intensive training in financial analysis. Students gain real-world experience as they assume the role of a research analyst and are tested on their ability to value a stock, write an initiation-of-coverage report, and present their recommendations. <ref></ref> The competition is split by 3 geographical regions, [[Asia Pacific]], [[Europe, the Middle East and Africa|EMEA]], and the [[Americas]]. Both undergrad and graduate students are eligible to participate and represent their universities. Winners from the local competitions advance to regional competitions in the Americas, Asia, and Europe, before facing off at a Global Final held every April. <ref></ref>

For the year of 2019, more than 6,100 students from over 1,150 universities from 95 countries participated in the competition.<ref></ref>
